Northshire Baptist Fellowship, Manchester Center, VT
Our church is located in Manchester Center, Vermont (25 miles north of Bennington). We are currently led by a team of two elders and three deacons, with several members responsible for various ministries. Our congregation includes a number of strongly-committed families. Currently, there are approximately forty adult members of NBC, and average attendance for Sunday worship service is fifty adults, teens and children (of course, this varies significantly week to week).
Our church was formed in the 1980s as a Missionary Alliance church that concentrated on young families in the Manchester area. After two years of association with the Missionary Alliance, the congregation chose to become associated with the SBC and GMBA. During our history, we have strived to serve, care, and meet the needs of many of our neighbors, including outreach to the community and efforts through our benevolence fund, our Vacation Bible School, our outreach to a local assisted-living facility, support for the CareNet Pregnancy Center, support for various missionary families (currently, five), and other efforts as needed (both as a body and as individuals, couples, and families).
In 2003, NBC (then operating as Northshire Baptist Fellowship) acquired its current property at 5769 Main Street in Manchester Center.
We are seeking a pastor who can thrive in this environment, and lead our church in growth – spiritual and numeric.
Expected Roles of NBC’s Pastor
- Preach from the pulpit most Sundays during the year
- Lead the Adult Bible Fellowship most Sundays during the year
- Lead or coordinate special services during the year (Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.)

- Participate in NBC’s weekly Men’s Breakfast (spouse would be expected to participate in the monthly Women’s Fellowship)
- Provide Bible-based counseling to members when necessary and in accordance with ability and experience
- Ordination by a recognized Christian organization or equivalent experience
- Impeccable moral character (appropriate background screenings will occur)
- Strong knowledge of the Bible and a heart for Christ
- Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel, coupled with an ability to equip and empower the NBC body to go out and spread the Word
- Agreement to live, or a commitment to move to, the local area and become involved in the local community
- Appropriate prior experience, including a solid track record of accomplishment
- Ability to build a team within the body and to work with others and delegate as necessary
- Willingness to work with the GMBA and sister-GMBA churches
- A strong and secure personality, able to handle the inevitable stresses that come from being a pastor
- A desire to learn from others
It is expected the total compensation (salary and benefits) for this position would be in the range of $50-60K, depending on experience, abilities, credentials, etc., as well as the church’s annual budget. The church would also consider a part-time arrangement.
