Capstone Baptist Church Dedicates Building
On a lovely Saturday near the end of May the Capstone Baptist Church was filled to capacity as the congregation held their official dedication service. The building, which had been closed for many years, was in very poor repair. The trustees had signed the building over to the Green Mountain Baptist Association so they could reopen a new church in the facility. Phil Steadman, pastor, reported that the renovation of the building took four years, utilized 1002 volunteers from 54 volunteer teams from across the nation at a cost of $250,000, which was raised by the congregation and their partners without taking on any indebtedness. Pastor Steadman preached a powerful sermon on dedicating the building to God. The New England Praise Riders provided special music and various members of the congregation gave testimonies and led parts of the service. Terry Dorsett, Director of the Green Mountain Baptist Association, shared some of the history of how the association became involved. He also prayed a dedication prayer.
